Due to continued growth, Pallas Capital’s Origination team has an opportunity for an experienced Associate Director - Origination.

Job Description

About the role 

The purpose of this role is to drive high customer satisfaction and disciplined revenue growth by working cooperatively with the Credit Team, Marketing Team and Group Executive, Origination to originate, structure, execute and manage funding solutions for clients.

Key responsibilities:

  • To originate high quality new lending opportunities for the Pallas Capital suite of loan products to include senior debt, mezzanine debt and preferred equity. The focus of this role will be originating loan applications via the Third Party Channel and direct to Borrowers. The role will include hosting client functions and attending industry events to represent and grow the profile of Pallas Capital; 
  • Workshopping new lending opportunities with the Head of Credit and Group Executive, Origination;
  • Issuing Terms Sheets that includes flagging key underwriting conditions to the Borrower;
  • To prepare and / or review credit risk assessments to ensure a high standard credit quality of each loan, and to maintain a good balance between risk and return exposure consistent with the practices and policies of Pallas Capital and the relevant funding source;
  • To provide ongoing input and some training to credit associates to continuously upgrade the competency of team members, and to ensure origination and underwriting standards are consistent with best practice;
  • Review and questioning of property valuations and developer feasibilities;
  • To work with the Pallas Loan Management team as required to ensure compliance with approved loan terms;
  • To help assess requests for condition waivers (pre and post settlement) and requests requiring credit consent;
  • To assist in activities to promote the reputation and business activities of relevant Group Company(ies);
  • Any other duties relating to the Position from time to time; and
  • Other duties assigned by Pallas from time to time.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

  • Minimum of 10 years lending experience with ability to show strong leadership
  • Extensive experience in banking with preference for relationship banking, loan structuring, property finance or structured finance
  • Tertiary qualifications preferably in Law, Commerce or Property.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of real estate debt products with an emphasis on structured property finance including construction finance.
  • Relationship Management experience preferred with a focus on private investors and developers.
  • Ability to project manage and lead transaction / deal teams to close transactions.   
  • Excellent relationship, business development, interpersonal and negotiating skills with ability to build a profile in the market.
